Tips for becoming a published author: It is not easy to become a published author if you don’t know how to write well. It is your writing that will fetch you the payment for your book. So follow these tips to write well and become a published author: Reading work of great writers is the best place to start writing. By reading as much as possible, you learn by emulating masters and finding your own voice. Not only do you have to pay attention to content, you also have to pay close attention to style and mechanics of writing. Try to get as much writing as possible in a day. The more you write, the better you become as like other skills, practice makes your writing perfect. There is no need of writing only books; write for yourself, write for blogs, the internet, just write and you will be better in your work. You never know when you get inspiration to write; so keep a notebook handy at all times where you can write ideas for stories, articles, novels and characters. Fix a certain time in the day to write depending on when you can get the most work done. Follow this ritual by making writing compulsory everyday; just start writing with a headline and pretty soon, things and ideas start flowing. When writing, eliminate distractions like the phone, TV and clear your table. You can write better without distractions and interruptions. There is no need of actually copying writers; use them for inspiration while you experiment with new ideas for your successful writing. Use new words and perhaps invent new words to create something special. Make it a point to revise whatever you write which is very important. Look for not only spelling and grammar mistakes, but also for awkward structures and confusing sentences. Use powerful and concise sentences and paragraphs as short sentences are always better than longer ones. Get feedback by getting someone to read your stuff and learn from your mistakes, if any. And most important, imagine you being the reader and how you would appreciate your writing. End your work with a strong ending and you are sure to be successful as a writer and a publisher. |
